Waiting on Wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday
Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases we're eagerly anticipating. In my case not so patiently waiting for the new releases, which I lack.

It's no surprise that I picked a dystopian novel it's one of my favorite genres. I've read one of these authors prior books but I'm curious to see how this one will play out. It sounds like my type of book. I just wish I didn't have to wait to so long to get my hands on it.

My choice this week is
Illuminae
by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
Expected Publication October 20th 2015
(Goodreads)

Synopsis
This morning, Kady thought breaking up with Ezra was the hardest thing she’d have to do.

This afternoon, her planet was invaded.

The year is 2575, and two rival megacorporations are at war over a planet that’s little more than an ice-covered speck at the edge of the universe. Too bad nobody thought to warn the people living on it. With enemy fire raining down on them, Kady and Ezra—who are barely even talking to each other—are forced to fight their way onto an evacuating fleet, with an enemy warship in hot pursuit.

But their problems are just getting started. A deadly plague has broken out and is mutating, with terrifying results; the fleet's AI, which should be protecting them, may actually be their enemy; and nobody in charge will say what’s really going on. As Kady hacks into a tangled web of data to find the truth, it's clear only one person can help her bring it all to light: the ex-boyfriend she swore she'd never speak to again.

Told through a fascinating dossier of hacked documents—including emails, schematics, military files, IMs, medical reports, interviews, and more—Illuminae is the first book in a heart-stopping, high-octane trilogy about lives interrupted, the price of truth, and the courage of everyday heroes.

What are you waiting on this week?

  1. It sounds interesting, but I am not a huge sci-fi fan and not sure about it being told through documents, emails, etc..sounds weird. I will wait for your review to see if I might like it or not..lol. :)

  2. I am SO excited about this one! I have a feeling an eARC from Edelweiss or NetGalley wouldn't work for the way this is going to be formatted. So it's either cross my fingers for a physical ARC (maybe from BEA) or wait until Octorber. I REALLY don't want to wait until October! great pick!
