This Week's Question:
Have you ever read a book you thought you'd hate but loved? Or Vice Versa?

Answer:
I tend to avoid books I know I won't love only because I have a hard time doing the DNF and will fight my way through with the reading the book. So I tend to only read books that I will enjoy. I wasn't sure about Seeker because I'd read so many negative reviews and even my buddy reader wasn't very thrilled by the story but I enjoyed it. I've been watching Outlander with my book club girls and we picked the book to read. I wanted to love it but it was so slow I hated it. However I do like the show.
Have you ever read a book you didn't think you would love but did?

  1. Aww, I hate it when I pick a book based on the tv series and it's not as good. It's supposed to be the other way around!

  2. I hate to DNF a book. I’ve slogged through some really horrible ones just because I didn’t want to give up. I always feel like I have to finish a book, no matter how bad it gets.

Right? It's supposed to be the other way around. The thing with book series turn TV series, I either avoid the book or the show, whichever I stumble upon first.

  4. I do regret using the word "hate". It fit with my scenario in my head, which I explain on my blog. But it did come from a time where I didn't even have a TBR pile, let alone know what one was! LOL! Yeah, I would have a "pile" that was basically 4 books and then I would be done and without new reads for a month or so. Those times are unimaginable now!

Which is both a blessing and a curse! ;)

  5. I'm worries about picking up the Outlander books now. I did love the show too (well the one episode I've been able to watch so far. I need to get the series on DVD since I don't have cable).

  7. On man! You didn't like Outlander? I love that series. I can see why though. It is really slow and she does go into a whole lot of description for just about everything. I just purchased new kindle copies of all of the books so I'm going to reread them soon. The show is really good though so that's a good alternative. So far they're doing the books justice.

  9. I loved Seeker and haven't read Outlander! I want to watch the show so bad, but would rather wait to read the book first! I hope I like it! Sorry you were disappointed with it! (:
