Tell Me Tuesday & Tell me Something Tuesday

Tell Me Tuesday & Tell me Something Tuesday

Tell Me Tuesday

This is a weekly, bi-weekly depending on your reading style.
Tell is what you are reading now, why and what you'll be reading from your tbr pile next and why you chose that book.

I am currently reading
A Tale of Red Riding Hood: Rise Of The Werewolf Huntress
by Neo Edmund
I'm only about 20% in but I am planning on trying to finish it tonight while the hubby plays a little call of duty or baseball.
I picked this one up as a kindle freebie a long while ago and when I showed the hubby my kindle with all the pretty color covers he picked this one out.

Up next
Escapement by Ciara Knight
I received this one for review but I've started it a couple of times but not been in the right mindset and didn't think that was fair for a review.

Tell Me Something Tuesday

This is a weekly discussion post over at Rainy Day Ramblings and I've been trying to do more discussion posts so I want to take part.

This weeks question
What are some things that annoy you in books?

Answer:
I typically can find the good in almost all books. I don't mind love triangles but i prefer to avoid them because someone always ends up getting hurt and I don't like my characters in books to get hurt.

I also hate cliffhangers purely for the fact that I have to wait forever for the next one to come out. However this one is one I'm sure everyone can agree with who enjoys waiting for the next book.

I don't care for main characters who are prissy and can't take care of themselves. Those that shut down when something happens. I don't read them very often. I mean I like when a guy takes care of the girl and protects her chivalry isn't dead in my mind but i hate weak minded characters annoy me.

How about you?

Top Ten Tuesday!

Top Ten Tuesday!
Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke And The Brookish. Who doesn't love lists. They make life easy! And fun!! It's always a never ending topic.

This week's topic:
Top ten books I've added to my TBR recently

I feel like this list keeps growing more and more every day. I love finding new books to add to my TBR but that is why it seems to never been close to ending. My list is a mix of new books and older books that have been out for a while.

1. Silver in the Blood by Jessica Day George - While I've not read this author before I'm captivated by the synopsis and cover and can't wait to read it.

2. Zeroboxer by Fonda Lee - The hubby has his eyes on this one and I'm equally curious to check it out.

3. After the red Rain by Barry Lyga - This one is a long way off August but it's recently been added to my to read list. I'm a huge fan of post-apocalyptic novels and this one sounds really good.

4. Mindwalker by A.J. Steiger - This one has been added recently. I like the concept and I'm curious to see how it will play out.

5. Dreamland by Robert Anderson - The cover is what drew my attention but it's the synopsis that sold me on adding it to my read list.

6. Spelled by Betsy Schow - Just look at that cover how could I not want to read it. I even snagged an eBook review copy.

7. Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine - This one sounds really good and I've enjoyed Rachel Caine's other books.

8. A Whole New Word by Liz Braswell - This one has a great concept who doesn't love a Disney story.

9. Ash & Bramble by Sarah Prineas - I'm a fan of retellings this one has a great cover and the synopsis sounds fantastic.

10. Walk on Earth a Stranger by Rae Carson - I haven't read any of this authors book but I love the synopsis and cover for this one. It has to be on my list.

What's on your top ten list this week?

~Open to a random page

~BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! ( make sure that what you share doesn't give away too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)

~Share the title & author too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR lists if they like your teasers!

Currently I'm reading a book I picked up as a kindle freebie. The cover is what captivated me and my hubby picked it up after the covers.

Musing Mondays & Making Up For Monday

Musing Mondays & Making Up For Monday
Musing Mondays
Hosted by A Daily Rhythm
Musing Mondays asks you to muse about one of the following each week…
This week's question:
How old were you when you realized that you are an AVID reader?

My Answer:

I've been an avid reader since I was little and first could read. I remember being a little 5 year old going to the library and loading up on books so it's been a whole life obsession. So I would have to say I was 5 years old when my book obsession started. My parents encouraged it every chance they could.

 Making Up for Monday
Hosted by An Avid Reader; A Wannabe Writer

Making Up For Monday asks fun literary questions.

This Week's question:
Do you have an author who you refuse to read?

My Answer:
I don't have one yet but I'm sure I'll find one sooner or later.

What about you?

Book Review: Switched

Title - Switched
Author - Amanda Hocking
Series - Trylle #1
Genre - YA Paranormal Romance
Format - Kindle
Published - January 3rd 2012
Publisher - St. Martin's Griffin

Synopsis
When Wendy Everly was six-years-old, her mother was convinced she was a monster and tried to kill her. It isn't until eleven years later that Wendy finds out her mother might've been telling the truth. With the help of Finn Holmes, Wendy finds herself in a world she never knew existed - and it's one she's not sure if she wants to be a part of.

Review
Wendy’s mother tried to kill her over chocolate cake when she was a child. She was sure that Wendy was a monster and not her child since she had been having a boy up to the point that Wendy was born. Now she’s living with her older brother and aunt since her mother is locked in a mental hospital. Things have rough for Wendy bouncing from school to school she just hasn’t found a place to fit in at the newest school she meets a new guy Finn who isn’t like typical guys he knows she is able to persuade people to do her bidding.

When Wendy sneaks out of the house after seeing Finn does she encounter two stranger who are intent on capturing her but thankfully Finn saves her but in return he takes her back to her real family. Wendy doesn’t want to leave her brother and aunt but she doesn’t want to risk them so goes with Finn to the Forening where the rest of her people live. With Finn’s cryptic answers Wendy isn’t sure what to expect when they arrive at her mother’s home. Wendy is pulled into a world she never knew existed filled with secrets that could change her future forever.

I liked Wendy right from the start she has issues after all her mom did try to kill her who wouldn’t have issues after that. She’s been thrust into a world she didn’t know existed told that she will one day be the next ruler, and that the one guy she wants she can’t have. I really like Wendy as a character she was easy to connect with and I enjoyed reading her story. I liked the way that the one guy she wants is forbidden and it would change everything for them to be together. We are also introduced to several supporting characters that I found interesting and look forward to seeing more of them in the next books.

I’ve had this one on my kindle for ages even picked up the trio in an all in one book just a couple of weeks ago so it was time to give it a shot. I’ve read the author’s Hollows series so I had high expectations and Switched doesn't disappoint. It’s a fast paced novel right from the start filled with action, suspense, romance and trolls. I was captivated right from the start it was a hard novel to put down, and I finished it over the course of a day and half when I had reading time. I like the concept the idea of them being Trolls but not Trolls that I first thought of more like elves. Switched is well written it flows from start to finish and it’s beautifully done. I’m already planning on reading the next two in the series because I have to know what’s going to happen with Wendy. It’s a story that teens as well as adults will enjoy with great characters and an exciting new world. I enjoyed every moment it was a great first installment to an exciting new series.

Cover Reveal: The Tour

Title - The Tour
Author - Shelby Rebecca
Series - Phoenix Rising #2
Genre - New Adult, Romance
Publication date - Fall 2015
Cover Designer - Cover to Cover Designs

Synopsis
Mia, the saint
Kolton, the sinner
The Tour is the conclusion to The Stage: a Phoenix Rising Novel
After the finale of The Stage, Mia comes to terms with where she’s placed in the competition. But that night, Kolton and Mia come face-to-face with both of their biggest fears: fire and loss. Not everyone will survive, and the challenges that their relationship cause won’t end when the show does.
Kolton needs Mia’s trust, and he’ll do anything to get it—even exposing himself and what makes him vulnerable. He’ll do anything to keep her.  Knowing the choice is hers to make doesn’t make it any easier. The secret about the night of the finale, about the choices made in a moment of survival can’t stay hidden when a celebrity’s life is fodder for the masses.
In the midst of this chaos and loss, Mia has to balance her love for Kolton and the future of her career. Will she sign with him, letting him be her boss with control over her future? Or will she go out on her own, with a sup par record contract so that she stands on her own equal to Kolton in her own right?
When there are so many questions and decisions to be made, going on tour could either make things clearer or make all the weaknesses in their relationship pull to the surface. Those fissures either get stronger, or break so permanently nothing can repair them.
When loves burns so bright, is it sustainable?

Excerpt

He made me feel like such a stupid little girl. He had no idea what it was like for me. None. I wanted to yell at him and slap him, but more than anything, I wanted him not to disapprove of me, and I couldn’t understand why. I’d never cared what anyone thought of me before. In fact, I’d gone out of my way to inspire less than comfortable thoughts in people. It was the way I operated. It was the way I’d survived the last few years in high school.

I realized with a start that I’d begun feeling comforted by his presence. We were building some form of quiet friendship. And the thought that he was disgusted with me caused shame to burn through my gut. But with that came anger. How dare he make me feel this way? Who was he to pass judgment on me? And pulling out what Abby would think had been such a low blow.

I was pacing back and forth, coming up with the words I would hurl at him to get even when I’d caught sight of him through the small kitchen window and stopped dead.

Tom was ripping his shirt off over his head. He flung it angrily, his bare chest heaving. Jesus, he was ripped. Picking the ax back up, ribs arching, he swung it over his head, bringing it down with such force that every muscle and sinew bulged and flexed with the power of it.

I sucked in air, realizing I’d been holding my breath. Emotion rolled off him, the air electrified. Wind I couldn’t feel tossed his hair. It was raw and almost painful to watch. He was part wild animal and part insanely beautiful human.

His body was a blur of motion, and he seemed oblivious to the icy air. A strong working body. A man’s body, not a boy’s. So much man. No muscle unused.

I’d been living with this huge, larger than life, virile male for almost two weeks.

Old fears skittered down my spine.
