Top Ten Tuesday!

Top Ten Tuesday!
Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke And The Brookish. Who doesn't love lists. They make life easy! And fun!! It's always a never ending topic.

This week's topic:
Top ten Tuesday favorite Heroines

Picking 10 was hard but I ended up doing mostly urban fantasy since it's my current obsession.

1. Mercy Thompson from Mercy Thompson Series by Patricia Briggs (Goodreads) - My favorite heroine because she's a kick-ass auto mechanic who happens to turn into a coyote. She's not some fake character but she's real and when she needs to protect someone she will step up to the plate every time even if they are bigger and more powerful than she is. I love that even though she's tough she's not afraid to rely on the wolves or her other connections.

2. Anita Blake by Laurell K. Hamilton (Goodreads) - Anita was my first urban fantasy character ever and I have a soft spot in my bookish heart for her. However it's only for the first 9ish books of the series. When Anita developed a unusual ability thanks to a certain someone (I know not giving anything away) she kind of went a little off the deep end. The books started becoming more about who she was sleeping with less about being a heroine. I've hoped deep down the author would return to more story less smut but from what I've read it tends to be what she feels readers want. I highly recommend the first 9 after that your on your own.

3. Rachel Morgan by Kim Harrison (Goodreads) - I'm not current with Rachel but I've read the first six in the series and really enjoyed them. A witch living with a pixie and vampire she may not be as kick ass as say her vampire room mate but when it needs to happen Rachel is right their risking her life. She was my first witch series and I just loved all of the ones I read. I'm actually going to read the ones I've already read and the rest to get current because I do miss that rag tag trio of characters.

4. Anna & Charles by Patricia Briggs (Goodreads) - While this one is a duo I still think Anna is a fantastic Heroine she's not your typical kick ass werewolf considering she's an omega but what lacks is made up for in having Charles for a mate. I read this series before Mercy so it's hard to choose which is my favorite because I love both girls and each one has it's own unique story but every now and than they do get mentioned in the other novel.

5. Aurora Sky by Nikki Jefford (Goodreads) - She may have been a human who survived a car accident only to wake up in the world that vampires are real but I really like Aurora as a kick ass vampire slayer. While she has some learning to do in the novels I still think she's one of the best YA vampire hunters around.

6.  Women of the Otherworld by Kelley Armstrong (Goodreads) - The whole series is about strong powerful women in the supernatural community. I'm partial to Elena only because I'm a huge werewolf fan plus she is totally kick-ass when it comes to protecting herself and the ones she loves.

7. Rose Hathaway by Richelle Mead (Goodreads) - I really enjoyed Rose in all of the Vampire Academy series she's one of my all time favorite characters. I read the series in a week that's how much I enjoyed them. She snarky but when she needs to be she's a kick-ass heroine in my book.

8, Kitty Doe by Aimeee Carter (Goodreads) - I've only read Pawn but instantly I loved Kitty she's tough and used what she could to survive. I plan to read the next on in the series really soon to see how Kitty progresses in the series.

9. Cinder by Marissa Meyer (Goodreads) - I really enjoy the Lunar Chronicles Cinder is a great character the perfect Heroine with the help of her new friends. I see lots of potential for how this will play out. Looking forward to it.

10. Alyssa Rose Ivy (Goodreads) - This one is more all of her books. Each MC she writes I've loved in one way or another. I haven't found a bad book and the characters while some aren't kick-ass others are. She has a great mix of contemporary and paranormal. I can't pick my favorite it's to difficult I love them all.

What's on your top ten list this week?

  1. Kitty Doe! Good one! I have to agree with that! Rose is on mine. Of I were doing non-YA, I'd have to add Faythe from the Shifters series by Rachel Vincent and Mercy Thompson. Great list!
