Paige Donovan is an ambitious college graduate who aspires to reach the top of the corporate ladder. She’s climbing fast when given the promotion of a lifetime at a prestigious fashion magazine in New York City. Her bright future comes to an unexpected halt after news of her father’s death. She inherits his old cabin in the Colorado Rockies, and just when she thinks her luck couldn’t get any worse, she has a car accident in the mountains and awakens in the small, remote community of Black River.

Soon, she’s engulfed in the mystical world of Varulv---wolves descended from 13th century Scandinavia and blessed by Norse gods with the ability to appear human. Paige is desperate to return home, but never expects to fall for her rescuer, Riley Gray, a charming young werewolf from England who offers her an alternate future with his pack.

Now, she must choose between the career she’s always wanted and the love she’s always dreamed.

Review
I received The Howling Heart in return for an honest review as part of the tour hosted by Parajunkee Blog Tours. Paige has just graduated from college with the offer of her dream job in fashion. However it’s not all good her father has passed away and left her the cabin they visited as a child. Paige heads off to Colorado away from the big city to visit her cabin and attempt to figure out why her father left it to her. She has memories of the cabin that involve a white wolf cub, animal carcasses and leaving suddenly when her mother is upset.

Paige connects with a local guy and his twin sister forming a fast connection clearly attracted to Riley. When the wolves return to the cabin Paige is freaked out but when she learns the truth thanks to Quinn who is Riley’s twin everything changes. She learns that the locals are wolf shifters but not your typical wolves they are from Norse mythology. When they shift it’s a flash from wolf to human and back again. Riley is in love with Paige and intent on making her his mate he’s been waiting for her since she was last in Colorado. Paige can’t deny she’s drawn to Riley but she’s not sure if she’s in love with him. His plan is to keep Paige with him forever and she’s quickly falling for his charm until a stranger from Riley’s past shows up changing everything. Will they survive what’s coming?

I love Paige she’s stubborn, knows what she wants out of life and willing to risk it all for love. Riley is the perfect guy even if he does turn fluffy when he sleeps. I love the chemistry between Paige and Riley it’s hot and steamy but it’s also sweet and innocently cute. I cheer for Quinn she’s struggling to find herself in the pack she’s a dominant female who the males in the pack see as broken which pulled at my heartstrings.

I was really excited to read The Howling Heart anything with werewolves is a must for me. The author has taken the werewolf concept and put her own unique spin on it creating an exciting new story. I love the story that Riley tells Paige about who the wolves are. I think the concept for the way the wolves shift and who they really are is very interesting. The characters are awesome I fell I love with Paige and the twins you can’t help cheering them on through the story. The Howling Heart is a fast paced whirlwind romance between Paige and Riley but packed with action and steamy moments. I really loved the book it was a breath of fresh air as far as werewolves go. I will admit the book has its steamy moments that had me blushing because I was reading on the sofa while the kids ran around. The book was hard to put down I finished it in an afternoon. I hope to see more from the wolves of Black Creek.

  2. Nice review. I've seen the cover before but I don't think I knew what it was about. It sounds like an interesting story about werewolves, only not the kind that we're used to reading about. I'll have to check this book out.
