Synopsis

I’m dying, I thought. This was unexpected and not at all how I envisioned my death. I was supposed to die gardening in a flowerbed as a hundred-year-old woman, not as a seventeen-year-old trapped in a lake beneath inches of ice.

Llona Reese is used to living on the run. After the Vykens killed her parents, she knew they would eventually come for her too. She can’t take any chances. But when she starts to make friends for the first time in her life, she gets careless and lets her guard down. Big mistake.

As an Aura, Llona can manipulate light and harness its energy. But if she wants to survive, Llona will have to defy the Auran Council and learn to use her power as a weapon against the Vyken whose sole desire is to take her light. Now she’s caught in something even bigger than she can understand, with a power she can’t wield, and no one she can trust, except, just maybe, a mysterious stranger.

In this breathtaking and romantic adventure, Rachel McClellan delivers a truly mesmerizing story that will keep you guessing to the very end.

Review

I received Fractured Light in return for an honest review as part of the tour hosted by Dark World Books.Llona Reese isn't your typical teenager; she’s spent most of her life on the run after losing both her parents. She’s been raised by her dad’s younger brother who hasn't handled his brother’s death well. Her mother was murdered by a Vyken while her father was out of town instead of protecting her, and later dies in a fatal car accident. Llona is a Aura with the ability to use light to help calm people however she’s not like the other Aura’s who attend a special school. Against her aunt's wishes she has chosen not to attend the Aura’s school but live with her uncle Jake and attend her senior year.

It’s her last year of high school and this time she’s going to enjoy it. Blending in has always been the Aura thing but instead Llona enjoys sports which help her use up her energy. She also has a little crush on the new math teacher and finds herself drawn to the new handsome football star that just transferred in. As Llona gets to know Christian she starts to learn more about herself, and who she is really destined to be. When Llona learns that Christian is more then he appears she convinces him that she can help fight the Vyken who’s hunting her. Will they be able to stop the Vyken in time?

Fractured Light is a unique paranormal adventure that captures the imagination right from the start and doesn't let go till the end. I found the concept for the Aura’s and Vyken fascinating I love the idea of Llona using the light as a weapon. The author does an awesome job creating a complex story filled with connectable characters that leave you wanting more. I love all the action, hints, and twists and turns that left me guessing till the end. The characters are easy to connect with you can't help loving Llona she’s my favorite type of character one who solves her own problems and fights her own bad guys. I think the relationship though forbidden between Llona and Christian was beautifully started and I hope for more in the next book. I look forward to the next chapter in Llona’s adventure.

5 out of 5 Stars
