Project Fairytale: The Little Mermaid

PROJECT FAIRYTALE: The Little Mermaid

Hosted by The Cheap Reader

For the project each blog has selected to read and review the original fairy tale then read at least three re-tellings or spin-offs of the original. We will be posting the four reviews as well as other things related to our fairy tale during the month. Master List (Here)

I've chose to do The Little Mermaid because when I came across the sign up my little girl was obsessed with the movie. I think in the last year I have seen the movie over a hundred times. So this gives me a chance to read the original story as well as a few re-tellings. I noticed while looking for books for this challenge there don't seem to be as many as other stories. However I've created a great list of what I plan to read and review this month.

The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Anderson (Goodreads) (Kindle Freebie)
My Re-tellings

Fathomless by Jackson Pearce (Goodreads)
Mermaid: A Twist on the Classic Tale by Carolyn Turgeon (Goodreads)
Fortune's Fool by Mercedes Lackey (Goodreads)
Goddess Of The Sea by P.C. Cast (Goodreads) (Maybe not so little mermaidish)

Looks like a good way to start the month.

  1. I love Disney's The Little Mermaid. The fairytale is way different, and definitely darker, than the movie. I'm excited to see what you think about it. I have always loved mermaids, but I haven't read many books about mermaids that I have liked. I haven't read any you plan to read though. Looking forward to seeing what you think about them and the fairytale.

  2. I so love the movie as well! Really looking forward to seeing what you think of these books - so maybe I can put them in my TBR pile. Especially as I would like to read ones that are more based on the Little Mermaid tale and not just a book with mermaids.
