Throwback Thursday

Throwback Thursday October 18th 2012

Throwback Thursday is a weekly meme hosted by The Housework Can Wait and Never to fond of Books.

It's the nature of book blogging to focus mainly on new releases, but there are thousands of great books out there that haven't seen the "New Releases" shelf in years. We hope to be able to bring attention to some older titles that may or not be at the top of the current bestseller list, but still deserve a spot in your To-Be-Read pile.

You don't have to be a book blogger to participate! You can put up a Throwback Thursday post on your non-bookish blog; or if you don't have a blog at all you can use the comments to tell us about a book your remember fondly.

Once Upon A Winters Night
by Dennis L. McKiernan
Fantasy
Published July 1st 2002

Synopsis

From the bestselling author of the Mithgar novels comes a new version of a classic French fairy tale. A young woman marries a mysterious Prince, only to have magic steal him away-and, once upon a winter's night, her quest begins.

Short and Sweet Review

I read this book way back in the day when it was still new because it's a remake of the East of the Sun, West of the Moon Fairy tale, which happens to be one of my favorites. I loved the book it's one of the best adaptations in my opinion for the fairy tale. The characters are great you can't help loving them, and cheering them on through the story. It's a fast paced story that I wish I still had my copy of because I keep saying I'm going to read the rest of the series.

What's your throwback this week?

  1. Not to judge a book by its cover, I'm a sucker for anyone riding a polar bear. And I have a soft spot for faerie tale adaptations. Might have to check it out!
