The last thing Laken Stewart remembers is the oncoming car, then bursting through the windshield.

Two months dissolve without her knowledge and she finds herself in unfamiliar surroundings with strangers who not only profess to know her but insist she’s someone else entirely.

Laken discovers her long dead boyfriend, Wesley, has been thrown into this alternate world as well. He is quick to inform her she suffered a horrible fall and that her memory hasn’t fully returned. According to Wesley the other life she had—her name, her family, they were simply a side effect of her brain trauma.

In her quest for answers she meets Cooper Flanders, the son of her psychiatrist who readily believes every word she says.

Laken Stewart knows she died on that hot July afternoon, but now she’s alive—or is she?

Opening Teaser

In the grand scheme of things, you’ll be dead a lot longer than you’ll ever be alive.

I marinate in that truth, baste in the beauty of its wisdom while peering out at the dull emerald world. I fumble through dense woods with roots that race across the forest floor like wild, petrified snakes. Wisps of lamp-lit fog twist throughout the narrow trails as gnarled branches coil around the evergreens.

Review

Laken Stewart is headed to her soon to be ex-boyfriend's house to accuse him of cheating on her when she's hit by a oncoming car. The last thing she remembers is slamming into the windshield. She awakes two months later to find out she's alive but living another life. Her name is still Laken but her last name is Anderson. Laken meets her new roommate named Casper who like Laken remembers a different life then what they are living now. While exploring the school before the start of school, Laken learns that her once dead brother Fletcher isn't dead like he was in her reality as well as her boyfriend Wesley the love of her life is also alive but with another girl.

Laken sets out to win him over and find out what is really going on. She manages to snag Wesley from his girlfriend Kresley to find out that Wesley has always had feelings for her but didn't know in this wonky life that she was interested. She has questions about the boy she met in the woods who saved her from a zombie like creature, as well as questions of what is really going on. She starts to tell Wesley about their past life together, he tries hard to believe her but he remembers her falling out of the tree house two months earlier.

Laken meets Cooper Flanders the boy who saved her life in the forest and the pair starts to try and figure out who she really is. As the truth of who Laken is begins to unravel the truth of what's really going on at Ephemeral Academy as well as what really lurks in the forest that the students are told not to go into. Suddenly Casper is missing pushing Laken deeper into the mysteries of Ephemeral.

I received Ephemeral in return for a honest review as part of a blog tour from Supergirl ToursThis is my first Addison Moore book and if the rest of her books are anything like Ephemeral I've been missing out. I loved this book, it instantly captured my attention not letting go till the last page. It's a fast paced adventure filled with mystery twists turns and romance.  I like the unique twists and turns that the story takes. I don't really dislike Wesley but I kind of love who Cooper is as a character and I see him as a better match for Laken. I loved getting to know Laken she's a strong young woman who grows so much during the book. I didn't know what to expect from Ephemeral but it was amazing.  I can't wait to get my hands on the next one to see what happens next. I love this cover it's so beautiful it's what instantly made me want to sign up for the tour.
