Synopsis

My dreams never included falling in love. Graduating top of the class, going far away to college and starting a life in a place where my alcoholic mother could never find me were the top three goals on my list. Then the unexpected accident with Mother, after her regular doses of vodka, altered all of that. With her gone, my life and my perspective changed forever.

I decided to return to life and school. That's where I noticed him, my Adonis, roaming the halls, searching for someone. Was it me? Love at first sight? Really? Cautiously, I reasoned the feeling suddenly spawned as a rebound to recent loneliness, but reasoning didn't matter. Fantasies of him stole my thoughts. He was the hottest guy I had ever seen!

At the last drag race of the summer, where I would finally earn the title "County Champion" and a $3,000 purse to help pay my way through college, my best friend announces his proposal to Joanie. They were getting married, having a baby, and he was ecstatic about it! I was proud to get through high school, girls hungry to catch me, without losing it to any, just as I had planned. I would have time to date girls later, no reason to hurry! The county race outcome changed all of my plans.

Desperate to find Joanie so I could break free, I returned to my old school. The search led me to her, my Aphrodite, a familiar lost look in her soulful eyes. Fantasies of her forced reasoning from my mind. I had to meet her! But once fallen, could our love survive the truth about the final race and all of my ghostly secrets?

Review

I received Dead Perfect in return for a honest review as part of the Dead Perfect tour at Young Adult Novel Reader. Mel doesn't have a easy life, she's in high school, her mom is a alcoholic and life hasn't been easy. She doesn't know her grandparents at all. Suddenly her mother dies in a car accident, leaving her all alone. While she's at school her grandparents drop by bringing her favorite foods, paying the bills and taking care of the stuff she doesn't worry about.

On her return to school she sees a guy she's never seen before, it's love at first sight. He's all she can think about, he's her Adonis the feelings are mutual he's equally interested in her. Together with Davis approaching Mel and the pair takes a run getting to know each other. Falling completely head over hills in love, this is a first for both of them. However Davis has a secret that could change their lives forever and he's afraid that it will drive a wedge between them sending Mel away forever.

Wow, another amazing paranormal romance. Dead Perfect was awesome, way better than I could ever have expected because I never saw the twist coming. I love a book when it can shock and amaze me, and Dead Perfect did just that. It's a sweet love story between two unique people who would never in a million years have gotten the chance to meet if fate hadn't taken a hand to change their lives. The characters are well written created with such care you can't help loving them both. Even the supporting characters are well created; I had a great idea who they all are as if I was there with them on this adventure. I found the concept for Dead Perfect unique from other paranormal romance stories, so it was refreshing and new to me which made it even more enjoyable. This is my first book by P.G. Shriver but I'll be checking out more of her books, because I loved this one so much one of the better romance stories I've read this year.
