Throwback Thursday!

Throwback Thursday September 6th 2012

Throwback Thursday is a weekly meme hosted by The Housework Can Wait and Never to fond of Books.

It's the nature of book blogging to focus mainly on new releases, but there are thousands of great books out there that haven't seen the "New Releases" shelf in years. We hope to be able to bring attention to some older titles that may or not be at the top of the current bestseller list, but still deserve a spot in your To-Be-Read pile.

You don't have to be a book blogger to participate! You can put up a Throwback Thursday post on your non-bookish blog; or if you don't have a blog at all you can use the comments to tell us about a book your remember fondly.

My Throwback for the week:
Guilty Pleasures by Laurell K. Hamilton
Paranormal with a little bit of everything
Published 1993 but has been re-published many times over the years.
Goodreads & Amazon

Synopsis
Anita Blake may be small and young, but vampires call her the Executioner. Anita is a necromancer and vampire hunter in a time when vampires are protected by law—as long as they don't get too nasty. Now someone's killing innocent vampires and Anita agrees—with a bit of vampiric arm-twisting—to help figure out who and why.

Trust is a luxury Anita can't afford when her allies aren't human. The city's most powerful vampire, Nikolaos, is 1,000 years old and looks like a 10-year-old girl. The second most powerful vampire, Jean-Claude, is interested in more than just Anita's professional talents, but the feisty necromancer isn't playing along—yet. This popular series has a wild energy and humor, and some very appealing characters—both dead and alive.

Review
This week I picked a series that I've been a fan of for years. I've actually read all but the recent one because I keep forgetting I have it but I plan to read it soon. I have re-read the series a zillion times over the years every five years or so. I haven't read the series since I started reviewing but I should be at the five year mark soon and it will be time to start over. I love the series, Anita is an awesome character, she's a vampire hunter and her day job is a necromancer meaning she raises the dead. I have a special spot for the supernatural and these books have it all. Plus I love a strong female character who is tough but has a soft side. It's a great series full of action, sexy vampires and other things that go bump in the night.

  1. I really love the early books in the series but I unfortunately, lost interest in the later books. Great pick!
