Synopsis

Don’t miss this spectacular new series that will steal your heart and haunt your dreams, Welcome to Shadow Falls camp, nestled deep in the woods of a town called Fallen…

One night Kylie Galen finds herself at the wrong party, with the wrong people, and it changes her life forever. Her mother ships her off to Shadow Falls—a camp for troubled teens, and within hours of arriving, it becomes painfully clear that her fellow campers aren’t just “troubled.” Here at Shadow Falls, vampires, werewolves, shapshifters, witches and fairies train side by side—learning to harness their powers, control their magic and live in the normal world.

Kylie’s never felt normal, but surely she doesn’t belong here with a bunch of paranormal freaks either. Or does she? They insist Kylie is one of them, and that she was brought here for a reason. As if life wasn’t complicated enough, enter Derek and Lucas. Derek’s a half-fae who’s determined to be her boyfriend, and Lucas is a smokin’ hot werewolf with whom Kylie shares a secret past. Both Derek and Lucas couldn’t be more different, but they both have a powerful hold on her heart.

Even though Kylie feels deeply uncertain about everything, one thing is becoming painfully clear—Shadow Falls is exactly where she belongs…

Opening Teaser

“This isn’t funny!” her father yelled.

No, it wasn’t, Kylie Galen thought as she leaned into the refrigerator to find something to drink. In fact, it was so not funny she wished she could crawl in beside the mustard and moldy hot dogs, shut the door, and not hear the angry voices spewing from the living room. Her parents were at it again.

Review

Kylie feels like her life is on a downward spiral her boyfriend of over a year breaks up with her because she won't progress the relationship. She's being stalked by a guy only she can see in military clothes, so her parents sent her off to therapy.  Her grandmother who she runs to for all her problems has passed away, and now her parents are getting a divorce. To make it worse her dad won't take her with him he is leaving her with her mom who she calls the ice queen.

Kylie agrees to go out one night with her best friend Sara to a party even though she's not really the party type. She runs into her ex-boyfriend Trey at the party with his new girlfriend who is hanging all over him. Before she can leave the party the cops show up finding alcohol, drugs, and who knows what else at the party. All the kids are sent to jail, where Kylie hopes for her father to come get her but instead she gets her mom. Thinking the worse Kylie's mom sends her off to a camp for troubled kids called Shadow Falls, but the students aren't what Kylie expected.

The camp is really a place for supernatural teens, to learn to deal with becoming something they didn't know existed. Kylie knows she's not in the right place because she's not a vampire, werewolf, fairy, witch or anything else at the camp. Her gift is having the ability to speak to ghosts but she doesn't know where she got the gift since neither of her parents has it. Something is going at camp that the leaders are trying to keep from the campers but Kylie has a bigger part in it when one of her friends runs away and everyone is looking for him.

I picked this book for my kick ass heroine bingo spot this week. I love the cover it lets my imagination run wild. I really liked Kylie she has so much stuff going on but she keeps on trying to find out who she really is. I like the whole supernatural camp it's kind of fun to see how they would interact with each other. I feel like the characters are well developed so you have a sense of who they are, what they can do as well as what they look like. For me the story sucked me in right away, I had a hard time putting it down to do real life stuff.  I felt for Kylie right away I wanted to help her out and tell her it's all going to be alright. She's a very honest character which is refreshing she doesn't pretend to be something she's not. I just really loved the book, everything about it was great. I can't wait to read the rest of the series.
