Throwback Thursday August 2nd 2012

Throwback Thursday August 2nd 2012

Throwback Thursday is a weekly meme hosted by The Housework Can Wait and Never to fond of Books.

It's the nature of book blogging to focus mainly on new releases, but there are thousands of great books out there that haven't seen the "New Releases" shelf in years. We hope to be able to bring attention to some older titles that may or not be at the top of the current bestseller list, but still deserve a spot in your To-Be-Read pile.

You don't have to be a book blogger to participate! You can put up a Throwback Thursday post on your non-bookish blog; or if you don't have a blog at all you can use the comments to tell us about a book your remember fondly.

Stray (Book 1 in the Shifters Series)
Rachel Vincent
Published June 1st 2007

Synopsis

There are only eight breeding female werecats left . . .
And I'm one of them.
I look like an all-American grad student. But I am a werecat, a shape-shifter, and I live in two worlds.
Despite reservations from my family and my Pride, I escaped the pressure to continue my species and carved out a normal life for myself. Until the night a Stray attacked.
I'd been warned about Strays -- werecats without a Pride, constantly on the lookout for someone like me: attractive, female, and fertile. I fought him off, but then learned two of my fellow tabbies had disappeared.
This brush with danger was all my Pride needed to summon me back . . . for my own protection. Yeah, right. But I'm no meek kitty. I'll take on whatever -- and whoever -- I have to in order to find my friends. Watch out, Strays -- 'cause I got claws, and I'm not afraid to use them . . .

Review

I've always loved shapeshifter books since I read my first Anita Blake book, so of course when I stumbled upon this series I had to grab them all. I ordered them over amazon about two years ago and read them the day they arrived over the next week. I love Faythe she's one of those characters you just love she's a strong kick ass girl. I totally love the chemistry between Faythe and Marc it just fits. I just love the whole series they are amazing. The characters are well developed you get to know more about them and we are introduced to the others in pack so we feel bonded to them as well. I just really enjoyed reading this series and I think it's time to read it again, if only I had more time in the day.

Other books in the series-
Rogue (Shifters Book 2) Goodreads
Pride (Shifters Book 3) Goodreads
Prey (Shifters Book 4) Goodreads
Shift (Shifters Book 5) Goodreads
Alpha (Shifters Book 6) Goodreads

  1. Rachel Vincent is one of those authors I've heard SO MUCH about but have never read. But this one sounds interesting, and shapeshifters are always a great concept. Great pick!
