Synopsis
Do first loves ever really die? While reunions can take many forms, there is always one question that has to be answered sooner or later—what happened?

Vance had always been extremely proud of Noella, and just because his life had been ruined, he saw no reason why she had to have the same faith. When his dad died, leaving him and his mother penniless, he dropped out of law school and ended his relationship with Noella, but in doing so, he stopped a scandal that could have ruined her family. These secrets he would never let her know. Ironically, years later, he would have never guessed she would be instrumental in ruining his career with the Tampa police force.

After Noella finished law school and started pursuing her goal of working up the ranks in judgeships, she never considered inviting another guy into her life. As such, when someone attempts to threaten her into vacating her seat on the bench, and by force if necessary, she knows of no one else she really trust as much as Vance, who now has a successful bodyguard and private detective business.

She knows that Vance might hate her for her part in having him dismissed from the police force, but what he will never know is that she actually saved him from going to prison. Additionally, she now thinks he was framed, and perhaps by the same people who are threatening her. She had to talk him into taking her on as a client . . . but would he agree to her request?

As the number of attacks on her life increases, Vance soon has no choice but to offer her his protection, and in spite of everything, when they see each other again their old attraction for each other returns. She wants the truth. He wants the truth. However, making the ultimate sacrifice is not always easy to understand, whether given or received. Ultimately . . . could they now trust each other with these secrets? While their lives depend on discovering the truth to their past, these truths are locked in deep secrets that could also destroy them.

Short & Sweet
A Romantic, suspenseful thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Review
I received this book from the author in a Librarything giveaway in exchange for a honest review.  The book is about two people Noella and Vance. Both still have feelings for each other even after seven years when Vance chose to end their relationship.  Noella having a privileged life finished law school, and went on to be a successful judge. Framed for the murders of innocent women, Vance was forced to leave the police force.  He did start his own Private Investigation company in hopes of being able to put himself through law school.

The book starts out with Noella seeking out Vance’s services to protect her, and work on solving the mystery why she’s being threatened to step down as a judge. However Vance isn’t so keen on the idea of working for Noella since he’s still working to clear his own name, plus they have a history together. After speaking to him about her case he agrees to think it over but before he can, an attempt to abduct Noella is thwarted by him, ending in a dead body. Knowing that she needs protection, he accepts the case and agrees to bodyguard her till they can solve who is behind the threats. She also tells him she has some information that may help clear his name and prove he was framed.

I enjoyed this book. I love the mix of romance and suspense it was perfect harmony. I feel like the characters are really well developed, so that you easily connect with them. Noella and Vance were written well and their relationship worked for me. There are a lot of characters in the book which can be overwhelming but I think the author handled it well, by not just giving them names but giving us a chance to get to know them.  The web of mystery was really good, I love all the twists and turns, it kept me on my toes. I love that the romance part wasn’t overshadowing the book, but it was hinted here and there. A very entertaining read. That gives you everything you could ask for in a romantic suspense thriller.
